REDISCOVERING PRAYER

A few days ago, I was honored to once again be in the home of Maurice Jr. And Sue Griggs, two 90+ year old saints of God and members of NFCN.

In the course of our blessed conversation Maurice looked me right in the eye, raised his hand, and said "Pastor, I want to remind you again that from the day I knew you were coming as our Pastor until today, your name has been called out loud in prayer by both Sue and me, and often times more than once."

I can't tell you what that that means to me, every time I hear it. I love when Maurice says "We listen online every Sunday and you're saying good stuff!"  I am honored when he says "I like so much of what you're doing!"  I get wistful when he says "man, how I wish I was 30 years younger so I could help you!" That is all wonderful.  But when he says what he says about prayer, wow. That's so much more important!

My youngest daughter, wife and I watched the movie "War Room" together on a recent vacation.  It convicted me. It moved me. We will be showing it soon on a Sunday night.

What if we intentionally prayed with in
tercession for our church?  What if we stopped discussing and evaluating every conceivable item about our church and started praying the time we used to spend evaluating?  What if we surrendered our preferences and tastes and started opening our hearts and minds to what God might want to do with us instead?

My own prayer life is being renewed and rediscovered these days. I hope yours is!  And I can't wait to get home and worship with you this Sunday to see what God will do among us!
