In 2015 you've helped us reach
more people than ever before

More lives have been transformed in 2015 than in any year before. 4640 people have been helped by our work in 2015, which is enough to fill more than 50 double decker buses! We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us grow, and to everyone who will continue to do so in 2016.

We’re proud of the impact we’ve had in 2015 and we’ve got even bigger plans for the coming year. We hope you’ll come along for the ride. 1 in every 5 people in the UK has a disability, so we know there are plenty more people who could benefit from our work.

Independence for new mum Marie

Marie needed help from DEMAND when baby Noah arrived in December. A brain injury means Marie needs support and stability from a walking frame outside of the house.
Needing to use two hands to hold the walker left Marie with a problem; how would she ever push a buggy? We were able to make special clips to fix a car seat quickly and safely to the walker. Later on, as Noah grows, a pushchair seat will fit just as easily. There’s nothing like thinking ahead!

Marie could easily be a friend, relative or neighbour. We are always amazed at the different kinds of people who, for the want of a special piece of equipment or clever adaptation, struggle to get on and do what they want to do.

New Possibilities...

December saw us treat our Abbots Langley workshop to a new machine. After years pretty much unchanged we jumped into the 21st century with a computer controlled router. Upgrading our equipment means we’ll be able to make all manner of equipment much faster, and help even more people this coming year.
 

Following months of designing, testing and then re-designing, the new and improved Sensory Rocking Chairs funded at our 35th Anniversary Gala in September will now go into production using our new machine!
