Your submitted essays, whether or not selected for the book, may also be featured on our website, social media, in our newsletters, or in our grant applications as we work to ensure that California Girls State continues into the future.
By submitting, you give us permission to use your essay as such - though of course, you are free to use your essay for your own blog or website, or scholarship applications, etc.

Please place your essay in the BODY of the email. NO ATTACHMENTS (viruses). The first deadline is APRIL 15, 2016 - SAME AS TAX DAY! Essays will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please proof your essay carefully before submission.
Title: Your name and Girls State year.
Target Word Count: 1000 (go over if you must, but understand your essay, if accepted, may be edited for word count, clarity, and errors/typos).
Our dream is to have this book available at the GSAF stand at the closing of California Girls State 2016. It is probably just a dream. Maybe it will be 2017 or 2018 before we have enough stories. It will depend on how many submissions and the quality of submissions we receive, plus time for editing, making the index, cover art, etc. (GSAF is all-volunteer!) Our goal is 75-100 inspirational, tear-jerking, transformative, enlightening, and diverse Girls State stories.
