Bite Sized Check-Ins

When you and your partner are busy in two different directions all day, it is easy to get out of touch. Yet to maintain a strong bond, staying in touch emotionally with your partner is every bit as vital as sex. If you can't share what's going on in your lives on a daily basis, you will start to share it with other people - parents, friends and colleagues. You want your partner to be your best friend, and for that to happen, he/she has to be the first person you want to call when something good, bad, or funny happens.

Take the childhood friend you haven't talked to in a year. Just thinking of calling her can feel exhausting because you have so much to catch up on. Yet the friend that you saw last Saturday feels more accessible. So what can you do to incorporate the bite sized check in habit?

Grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine each night and take 20 screen-free minutes to catch up on your day. You will find it connection changing!
