Exploring Smarter in Glaciated and Covered Terrains
This two-day short course will provide tools and knowledge to help overcome some of the challenges associated with exploring through cover. Talks will largely emphasize the northern Cordilleran environment and the search for porphyry deposits.
Presentation topics include:
  • glaciated materials, patterns and distribution;
  • nature and use of heavy mineral concentrates and indicator minerals;
  • developments in Porphyry Indicator Minerals;
  • case studies, methods, sampling and survey strategies.

Microdiamonds
MDRU and Minerals Services Canada Inc. are partnering to present this 1.5 day short course at The University of British Columbia.
A full day of lectures from Mineral Services and guest speakers, accompanied by an interactive half-day practical session, will include topics such as:
  • diamond formation, characteristics and value;
  • microdiamond characteristics and origin;
  • diamond recovery methods;
  • geological controls on diamond distribution in primary diamond deposits;
  • the relationship between microdiamonds and macrodiamonds;
  • and the application of microdiamond data in resource evaluation.
