New horizons

2016 is already bringing a lot of exciting collaborations for GFF, which will allow us to support our ongoing projects in Nepal and Uganda while potentially opening doors for more opportunities! Find out how you can join us in creating "health for all"...
Thank you!

GFF is pleased to announce that your donations raised almost $40,000 last year! Most of this money went to the high needs of our partners in Nepal, at the Patan hospital and medical school. We are also funding tuition for a Family Medicine residents in Uganda, and facilitated a conference in Kenya for what is now the College of Family Physicians of Eastern and Central Africa. The tiny yellow sliver represents our overhead costs.
Shop & Support GFF

Community Natural Foods (locations at Chinook, Beltline, and Crowfoot) is raising funds for GFF during the month of January with their Change for the Earth initiative. For each reusable bag that you bring into the store, you will get a chip that you insert into a bin representing People, Community, or Planet. GFF is one of the three bins for January 2016, and Community Foods will match this!
Crowdfunding

We are raising funds for resident tuition for students like Lillian Musika at Makerere in Uganda. Lillian is dedicated to Family Medicine primary care but has no funding for tuition. We hope to launch a CROWDFUNDING site soon, after interviewing Lillian and others at Makerere to explain how this will help. Anyone who has related skills, please get in touch!
Save The Date!

GFF is organizing a family-friendly FUN WALK and RUN on Sunday, May 15th, 2016. The 5 km event will be at the Glenmore Resevoir, with global health activities for all ages, coffee by Tim Hortons, and a chance for everyone to get healthy while also supporting the health of poorer people in Africa and Asia. Find out more here and register here!
House Concerts Update

Our colleagues Jill Allison, the Global Health Coordinator at Memorial University in Newfoundland who has lived for many years in Nepal (above), and Russell Dawe (also at MUN and a GFF Advisor), are hosting a house concert for GFF this January! Even if you can't attend our summer concerts, you can always consider hosting one of your own!
Karma Class at Bodhi Tree

Our friends at the Bodhi Tree Yoga Studio in Kensington will be putting on a Karma class for GFF on one of the last Sundays in March, 2016. Join us (TBA) Sunday at 2pm for a yoga class where proceeds will go to GFF's activities overseas! If you've never been to the Tree, you're in for a treat. The instructors are wonderful, there are hot and cool yoga studios, and the aesthetic is calming and beautiful!
We appreciate your support of our projects so much, and hope that you've been enjoying our fundraising activities as much as we have! Please reach out to us at globalfamilymed@gmail.com to find out how to get involved, to raise funds at your school or workplace, or for a copy of our annual report. You can always make a donation through Canada Helps, with the option to specify what project you want to support, such as:

Help get a doctor working where they're needed most...
Help build a home for training in Uganda...
Help our friends in Nepal, where medicine and equipment is at dangerously low levels...

You can learn more about all of our activities here.
