Artificial Intelligence: No Fiction Anymore...

Car of the FutureWhen you think AI, then IBM's Watson may be the first that comes to mind. But if this is your understanding of where AI is today - on TV, and for obscure purposes - think again. Siri, autonomous cars, picture recognition - the number of use cases have become vast. No wonder that so many articles and blogs deal with this rapidly evolving discipline. And now AI can read emotions too. Apple just bought a company doing this.

How do robots and autonomous systems see, how do they decide, would they decide against you, and what are the ethics?

But there are other exciting things to learn about: Motivational Intelligence. How do you motivate employees? Well, one good start is looking at my gamification book bundle or reading this industry report that's comparing 24 sales gamification platforms.

GamificationGAMIFICATION in cars or in enterprise software. Gamification can be used wherever humans are involved. And now with the New Years resolutions kicking in, also for the one or other habit. Do you wan to get healthier, lose weight, do more sports? Then get my Gamification in Healthcare & Fitness book. And if you're following political discussion and the apparent lack of factual discussion, this may be due to what some professors research as spread of ignorance. And then there is the question if you'd buy a car that might decide to kill you.

Silicon Valley MindsetA big part of my upcoming book Der Silicon-Valley-Mindset are interviews with Europeans living in Silicon Valley. The first portrait that I publish is an inspiring Italian entrepreneur, Aurora Chisté. She is from Venice - yes, from the very town of Venice - and she talks about what brought her here, what she discovered here, and what she experiences as a woman.

While a startup founder may always have dream for creating and owning a multi-million dollar company, corporate innovators can feel lucky to get a small bonus and a pat on the back. Assumed, that the project didn't fail. Because then there is the threat of getting fired.

In my latest blog post I go into more details what motivates intrapreneurs, how rewards work, what other companies did to incentivizes innovation initiatives, and what is a good reward strategy. Read the blog post here.

NSFW - Google Streetview Goes Miniatur Wunderland

Miniatur WunderlandToday's NSFW - internet lingo for Not Safe For Work - is from a very unusual place in Hamburg. Finally, the most popular tourist destination in Hamburg has been added. The challenge was the size. No, not that it's too large to fit on one photo. It's too small. It's the Miniatur Wunderland with 15 kilometers (9 miles) of tracks and over 1,000 model trains running there. You can spend days there and not having seen all details. But now you can see it from the comfort of your home. Visit it here.

Build more model train sets!
