Hi everyone,
Here is an update on PowerCurve Sensor and BikeStudio software. If you do not wish to receive this newsletter you can unsubscribe from this list.
January is the wake up call for those who want to get lean and mean for the upcoming bike season. I have been working hard to make the training and riding experience top in BikeStudio. Here is what's been brewing in my kitchen aside from a couple batches of hoppy IPAs.
Watt's your ratio?
Soon a power meter will be like when bike odometers came out 30 years ago. Everyone wants to see watts on their bikes. That's all cool, but everything has to be put in context. I see big riders sustaining upper 300s or even 400s. Then there are tiny climbers who to very well in the 200s. It's all relative.
So the cool metric is now the Watts per Kilogram ratio. It is certainly a direct benchmark to your climbing speed, and also to some extent on the flat - lighter weight means smaller - smaller means less frontal area - less frontal area means more aero. This year and in the future with aero fever growing, keep on eye on your CdA. That will be the next cool metric. I'm sure tools and apps will come to measure that too without having to hit the wind tunnel!
BikeStudio is now sprinkled all over with Watts / Kg. On the ride screen, workout screen, spreadsheet exports, PDF summaries, etc...
Workout mode with YouTube videos
So you want to train with a quality workout and be entertained at the same time? Check out the new workout mode with videos. You can play an entire video for the entire workout, or even define specific videos matching the intensity of specific intervals. You can build a video playlist for your interval segments too.
A super domestic for you in BikeStudio
You want a lead out for the next sprint, a strong partner in a breakaway, or you got dropped and want to come back in the group? Just use the phone app by pointing your phone (Android or iPhone) browser to, app.allyoucanbike.com, and add the rider with the "Smartphone - over the air" device type. Hint: once it is opened in Safari or your browser on Android, add it to your home screen for quick access.

Using a PowerCurve with Zwift
Maurizio Gigliotti has developed a cool software that allows you to re-broadcast a PowerCurve Sensor as an ANT+ device. With a PowerCurve and repeatable coast down calibration you can ride in Zwift with virtual power and appear as using a true power meter rather than virtual power! Click to download!
