It's A New Year

Happy New Year from all of us at Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture! The year brings some big changes for us. They're exciting! We're very happy to welcome Robert Mowry to the clinic. Robert is our new Clinic Support Manager. You may already know Robert as one of our POCA volunteers who staffs the front desk. Please stop by and say hi so Robert can get to know you.

Another change is that Nicole Whiting, LMT, the massage therapist here at SHCA, is leaving. Her last day is January 29th. Please be sure to book your appointments for massage with her before then. There's no replacing Nicole, so we're bringing in a number of massage therapists and energy workers who perform a variety of techniques to promote your well being. Check our website often as we introduce our new therapists!

Traditional Chinese Medicine in the News

Looking for Research?

For decades, scientific studies of Traditional Chinese Medicine have aimed to demonstrate a scientific basis for Chinese herbal medicine. And for nearly one hundred years Chinese hospitals have integrated herbal medicine into patients biomedically-based care. Now in the 21st century, many American hospitals -- including Mass General in Boston, the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, and the Veterans Administration system --- have made acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine available to patients here in the U.S. as well.

As early as 1980, the World Health Organization published a list of 43 disease and symptoms that are commonly treated with acupuncture. Read Leslie Cohen's, recent article From Folk Medicine to Science: TCM in the 21st Century in DECODED={science},
Have you seen the great big collection box in the reception area? Drop off your extra blankets, sweaters, gently used or new socks, hats, jeans, hoodies, or mittens. We'll deliver them to Food Not Bombs to share with people here in Tampa who need warm clothes. Larger sizes (mens & women's) especially welcome. Thank you!
