The San Antonio Clubhouse is dedicated to the recovery of men and women with mental illness by providing opportunities for our members to live, work, and learn, while contributing their talents through a community of mutual support.

From our Executive Director

Dear Clubhouse Family:

Well, we are all moved in to our new Northside location at 6851 Citizens Parkway, and we're all very proud of this new space. It's bright, welcoming, and spacious. If you haven't visited yet, please come by and see for yourself!

All that's left for us to finish is the kitchen and dining room, which we expect to be done by January 18th. When complete, we will have a restaurant-grade kitchen, and a dining room that will seat 100 people easily.

Our new Clubhouse will serve us for many years to come. It's also a great location - very accessible by bus, and conveniently located close to the medical center.

We now have one of the largest clubhouses in the United States (top 1/3 according to Clubhouse International) and we have lots of room to grow. Lots of cool things happening at the Clubhouse - please drop by!

Executive Director

We were lucky enough to have Karina come by the Clubhouse the other day, offering free haircuts to anyone who needed one!

New Year

Interview with Marie Garza:

Clubhouse has been a definite plus for me, personally it’s taught me to be social again certain skills involved, and things that we all have naturally within us. And toning up our skills here at the Clubhouse is really a good thing for me.

I really enjoyed learning the different aspects of the divisions in the Clubhouse –, the Wellness, the Community Connections, Development, Business, and finance…. may have got that mixed up somehow., 2016 and say “Hey, okay, I will participate with the Alamo Fun Run (sic)” and with different other social events.

My mental illness doesn’t keep me from doing anything.. And it’s a real treat to go out and –, I was whistling, I was clapping, high-fiving the people who were around us when we scored those goals. New in my recovery, “OH, is so-n-so talking about me?” Having those social anxieties, if you will. So, I’m trying to keep that under balance.

Sticking with the Wellness Team, , getting my computer skills toned up again, typing skills, learning the Salesforce software –both of them, really! I need to go and visit Citizens Parkway, and I’ve been wanting to make that jump to the Citizens Parkway location, but there’s a bigger crowd, it’s gonna be an adjustment for me. And I don’t want to use the word fear, I want to enhance it. If we go three days a week here at Las Palmas, to stay here Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and then to Citizens Parkway on Mondays and Fridays. Let’s make this an all-week venture for me, instead of just two days a week

That’s a huge step for me, so we’ll see, god-willing, what happens.

Hanging out with family doing Christmas Eve at Mad Dogs with the Clubhouse, and the lights downtown with the Clubhouse –., so the Boerne Light Show. I’ll go to church, and feeling the joy and peace. And again, getting in touch with the spiritual side of me, “It’s okay to be where I am today.” And know that I only have up to go from here, instead of looking back at the past.. You can’t do anything about it, just look to the future and focus on a bigger, better, and higher power than me that knows what’s really in my path.

BUSINESS UNIT:

Woot woot! Our business unit is always on the move keeping up with stats, data entry, and employment. We are so looking forward to our new space so we are not crammed into one small space. This is going to provide a way to keep organized and efficient unit. We are working on helping people become employed and those we are working. Our Employment Team is always ready and willing to write resumes! Come see all the awesome fun in our business unit. All are welcomed.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS UNIT

Need to learn what Twitter is, or how Facebook works? Our team is setting up Media Lab Workshops to teach tons of awesome computer skills. These will be just like the Wellness Workshops but with computers! We have been working on newsletters and other special projects. On the membership team we are working on setting up tour cards to follow during tours.

CULINARY & DINING UNIT

The Culinary Unit has worked tirelessly over the past several months to keep us well fed and happy. Kudos as always to the hard work and continued great meals! Probably no Unit is more excited to see their new space than the Culinary Unit, where they'll see a return to a big and beautiful commercial kitchen.

DEVELOPMENT UNIT

Our Development team has been working on sending and setting up Donor letters. One of the teams big tasks is setting up a family and friends night to promote clubhouse. The team has been working on the awesome grand opening program as well. Always looking for grants and fundraising is on gowning. There is always space in the Development team. Join us today.

WELLNESS UNIT

Get well! Our wellness unit has been having social events. Some of things we have done include wellness walks, ride A mile, and wellness workshops. Dates and topics will be posted in the weekly newsletters and social events list. Our snack bar has fresh food and snacks for sale. Many members are learning to work the snack bar. There is always a way to be well. Let the clubhouse help you.
