New Year's Baskets
Hi <<First Name>>,
THANK YOU, to all of you who prayed and gave to make the community food baskets possible this year!
|
|
Over 150 families received a small sack of rice and a second sack with beans, oil, spaghetti, salted herring, and other food items.
|
|
January 1st is also Haiti's Independence Day. We had enough funds to give each family an envelope with 50 Haitian dollars (approximately $4.50 US) to purchase something special of their choice to celebrate the holiday (it's an important one in Haiti!)...perhaps coffee and bread for breakfast, or perhaps a pumpkin and other ingredients for traditional pumpkin soup!
Thank you for helping us to reach out to our community with Christ's love in this tangible way during a very difficult time.

The Importance of Food-4-Work
We talk a lot about the Food/Cash-4-Work projects. That is because these programs have proven to be of inestimable worth in the work of Lemuel and encapsulate many of our values.
|
|
Imagine an initiative that
-builds into the work ethic and personal dignity of people
-provides desperately needed income for hungry, struggling families
-develops a community by the hands of its own inhabitants
-provides ample opportunity to share the Gospel
-sets an example for others that Haitians CAN change Haiti
...all at the same time!
|
|
Recently, we created a post on the blog detailing the important nature and multi-faceted impact of Food-4-Work projects for our community--spiritually, socially, economically, and environmentally.

Another Way to Get Involved in Lemuel's Ministry
Our vision for the Food-4-Work projects is more than just a sporadic, once-and-done idea. It is long-term and intentional, aimed at empowering the people of the Plateau to work to change their own community
One hundred US dollars can give approximately 5-6 people work for one week. If you are interested in investing financially in this particular initiative, please designate your gift for "Food-4-Work."
