Workout. Anywhere.
Something recently stuck out in this hilarious book, Modern Romance, and it is our constant connection to our smart (or not so smart) phones, iPads, and computers. This has not only changed the dating world immensely, it has changed the world all together. While so many of the technological advances are wonderful, they have also caused us to loose touch a bit.
Believe it or not, we had a two way radio and lived completely off the grid when I was a kid, which wasn't really all that long ago. We used our imagination and spent a lot of time outside. I thank my parents for giving me such an amazing childhood and to this day getting unplugged rejuvenates me and makes me incredibly happy!
This past weekend I was able to unplug in the mountains of Colorado, which was amazing as always. The photo above is from one of the most peaceful and beautiful trails runs I have done.
However, we can't always escape to the mountains or the beach, so I want to encourage you to try unplugging a little in your normal week. Maybe that means coming to a yoga class and leaving your phone at home or calling a friend rather than sending a text. Maybe its getting just a little lost in the trails that are our backyard, or sitting and meditating for a few moments each day. Whatever it is, see if you can find comfort and joy in some of the small things in life. The ability to slow down and unplug will actually give you more energy when it comes time to hit the ground running, so make sure to take the time to stop and be present in this beautiful moment.
Our workouts this week will again challenge your body and mind.
This Tuesday, January, 26th, we will do 45 minutes of a tough stair workout at the Yale Parking Structure (Yale and Lomas). Come sweat a little sweeter with me at 6:30pm
Wednesday evening we will finish up our eight week yoga workshop!
It has been so wonderful teaching this workshop and I look forward to continuing with it.
The next one will begin February 10th. Same time, same place.
Please let me know if you are interested and I hope to have enough of a group to keep it going.
I will also be teaching Monday and Wednesday mornings at 6:30am starting in February at
Remedy Spa and Yoga studio.
Remember, if it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you!
All the Best,
Maya
