We are currently hiring for several positions. Please check out the openings below and consider applying for a position on our staff team!
Summer Interns
We are looking for several dynamic, talented, flexible, compassionate young adults to join our 2016 summer staff team! This is a great way to spend a summer in beautiful Alaska while serving God and making in difference in the lives of children & teens! Applications are due January 31, 2016. Click here for more information about the intern program or to apply.
Assistant & Lead Cooks
We are accepting applications for two part time positions on our food service team: a Lead Cook and an Assistant Cook. Hours range from 10-40 hours per week depending on the camp’s schedule -- the position can be close to full time in the summer months. Click here to learn more or to apply.
Camp Director
Birchwood Camp's Board of Directors is seeking a Camp Director to oversee and manage the mission and ministry and move Birchwood Camp into a vibrant future. Applications for this position are due by January 31st. Click here to learn more about the Camp Director job opening.
It is the intention of the Board of Directors to fill this position by late Spring 2016 to allow for a period of overlap & training with the existing Camp Director (Marie Sweezey) & Camp Manager/Program Director (Stephen Sweezey). The new Camp Director will likely hire an additional full time staff person to support either program or maintenance at the camp. We'll keep you posted when this position opens.
Winter Camp Review
A wonderful group of 75 campers and staff joined in Winter Youth Break-Away at Birchwood Camp on December 27-30, 2015. This is the biggest turnout we've had for our Winter Camp, which serves students in grades 6-12. We enjoyed several days of great fellowship, community building, and fun. Perhaps best of all, we took a break from reality to connect with God and to learn about rest, sabbath & purpose.
Here are some nuggets of wisdom from our campers:
"You don't need to be a pastor to serve God."
"Time matters. How you spend your time is how you spend your life. Make time for God and for yourself."
"Even when you feel empty, you're overflowing with God's grace."
"It's okay to not know what you're doing with your life... But know that God is always with you."
Volunteer Opportunities
Looking for ways to be involved at Birchwood Camp? We need YOU to check out the following volunteer opportunities and let us know if you can help!
Lower Fireweed Hall Update
The lower level of Fireweed Hall is now open for use! We've been putting the finishing touches on this great multi-purpose space recently and are excited to see this beautiful room in use. The lower level of Fireweed Hall was originally planned as a crawl space; however, when we were digging the foundation for that building we had to keep digging until we nearly had a full basement. Our Board decided to raise the extra money to fund a fully functional lower level-- and we are so glad they did! Check out what it looks like today.
