Meetups, info stalls & more this February
BiPhoria
Hello again from BiPhoria

Thank you!

First of all thankyou to everyone who voted for me in the LGBT Hero awards!  WIth some 11,000 votes cast it was a great surprise to be winner of the Volunteer of the Year award - more about that here.

Reaching Out

This month we will be running bi info stalls at Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan University at events about polyamory and LGBT History.

On Thursday 4th Feb from 12 noon to 3pm we'll be in the reception area of Manchester University Student Union on Oxford Road, running an info stall as part of their LGBT History Month activities. Drop on by and say hello - or share the Facebook event to let other people know about it!

Then on Sunday 21st Feb we'll be at 70 Oxford Street - the building that used to be the Cornerhouse - running a stall as part of a day-long event about polyamory and consensual non-monogamy. Different relationship styles and rules is a recurring theme at our group meetings so this might be of interest to many readers - more info about that event here

Manchester Meets

This Tuesday, February 2nd, is our monthly BiPhoria "talky space" meeting for bisexual people (and those who think they might be bi). Join us at the LGBT Foundation, 5 Richmond Street, M1 3HF.  7.30pm start for new members.

As usual there's a bi pub meet on Tuesday 16th from 8pm at the Waterhouse, next to Manchester Town Hall. As ever, to find us look for the cuddly lion - we're usually in one of the two rooms toward the back of the pub.

After that our next meet is on Sunday 21st, at the Vienna Coffee House, Mosley Street, central Manchester - just across the tram tracks from City Art Gallery.  We meet from 1pm: look for the table with a lion on it.

Further Afield?

If you're not in or around Manchester you might want to watch the BCN weekly bi diary for details of bi meetups elsewhere in the UK and Ireland. There's more going on out there than for years!

I think that's all our bi news for now... More next month, hope to see you in the meanwhile!

PS Could you add your name to a petition to aid bisexual recognition in Spain?  More about that here.

Tom Robinson

On Saturday 27 February there will be a day full of LGBT history discussions at the People's History Museum in central Manchester. "Glad To Be Gay" singer and Radio 6 DJ Tom Robinson will be appearing at 2pm.

He has a great personal story of coming to bisexual identity via being dubbed "Britain's Number 1 Gay" by the tabloid press in the 80s.  I'm looking forward to it!

More info here.
