This semester marks a special and important milestone for the MCC.  As of this week, and after years of visioning and advocacy, we are now officially open in our new home in the MLK Jr. Student Union building.

This year marks sixteen years since the original demand for the MCC was won as part of the 1999 ethnic studies hunger strike under the banner of twLF (third world Liberation Front).  As such, we are dedicated to creating opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community members to collectively envision and work towards a more equitable, accessible, and relevant university, while also supporting each other’s personal and professional growth and development.

We're excited to invite folks who are part of the MCC's past, present, and future to gather for fun, community building, and cupcakes (vegan & gluten free options provided) during our MCC Grand Opening Celebration (see details below).

Don't worry if you're not able to make it to the Grand Opening Celebration next week, just mark your calendars for our upcoming Week of Cultural Resistance (WoCR) and the 16th annual Night of Cultural Resistance (NoCR), March 7th - 11th, 2016. In addition to the other awesome events throughout the week, we'll also be hosting a special event for MCC Alumni on Thursday, March 10th and NoCR will be extra special.

We're excited to welcome you to our new home!!

The Multicultural Community Center and Cross-Cultural Student Development office are excited to invite you to join the planning committee for this year's Night of Cultural Resistance (NoCR) which is scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2016. We offer Ethnic Studies field units for undergraduates interested in working with the committee and do our best to creative a supportive planning process for all participants. If you are interested please sign up here or email Mayra Gonzalez at gonzalez_mayra@berkeley.edu with any questions.

NoCR is the culminating event of our Week of Cultural Resistance (WoCR) which is scheduled for 03/7/16-03/11/16. Every year NoCR features live performances, art making, food, and various other activities to celebrate our resilience and honor the ways in which communities of color continue to resist and flourish within the university. NoCR is more than a concert or a show, it is an opportunity for communities on and off campus to come together and share stories, skills and resources.

ANNOUNCING: Orientation Sessions for MCC Collaborations
every hour from 12-6pm on Friday, 1/22/16

Hello beautiful community!

The MCC is excited to start the year in collaboration with you all! Our collaboration request form is now live again, so feel free to submit a request. We are particularly interested in multicultural and cross-cultural programming for students and off-campus community organizations.
Upon moving to our new permanent space, there have been a few changes in our collaboration process. In order to update you all on those revisions, we are offering MCC Orientations. These MCC Orientations will provide you all with the information you need to foster amazing collaborations and relationships with our space.
MCC orientations are required in order to request collaborations, so we hope to see you all there!

MCC Orientations will take place at every hour from 12-6 on Friday 1/22.

You can also come speak with an intern on shift any time during our open hours and we will have drop-in MCC orientations during our open hours throughout the week of 1/25-1/29.

Best,

MCC Programming Committee
