NIH T32 Grant Opportunity
The Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh is now accepting applications for their NIH  T32 "Vascular Surgery Research Training" grant intended to support the training of academic vascular surgeon-scientists, as well as non-clinicians scientists interested in vascular biology with a strong transnational component, bridging the gap from bench research to clinical care. 

The program is open to trainees who have completed 2-3 years of general surgery or integrated vascular surgery residency training. 



SVS Foundation Resident Research Prize
The SVS Research and Education Committee selects one recipient for the SVS Foundation Resident Research Prize each year to have their research featured at the Vascular Annual Meeting (VAM).  The prize is intended to motivate physicians, early in their training, to pursue their interest in research that explores the biology of vascular disease and potential translational therapies. 

The recognition includes VAM plenary presentation before the membership of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), a $5,000 award and a one-year complimentary subscription to the Journal of Vascular Surgery



Call for Abstracts - SVU Meeting
The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is now accepting abstract submissions for their 2016 Annual Conference & Marketplace.  The even will be held August 11-13, 2016 in Chicago, IL.

Abstract submissions will automatically be considered for a number of SVU awards. They are due February 9, 2016.

Registration is also now open for the event. "Attendees will have the chance to interact in group and individual learning sessions to observe and practice a variety of technical approaches to enhance their diagnostic expertise."












Fellowship Vacancy - Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
"The Division of Vascular Surgery at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School is looking for a qualified fellow to fill an open position in our (5+2) program, accredited by the Accreditation Counsel for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

This two-year program will accept three fellows, two every other year, after having just received approval from the RRC to increase its compliment.  There is an open position starting August, 2016. "



ACS Clinical Scholars in Residence Program
"The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is offering a two-year onsite fellowship in surgical outcomes research, health services research, and health care policy. The primary goal of the program is to involve the Clinical Scholar in the ongoing quality improvement initiatives of the ACS...

The program is open to applicants who have completed 2–3 years of surgical residency and have obtained two years of program funding from their home institution or other granting agency."



RAS-ACS Annual Essay Contest
"The Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons (RAS-ACS) Communications Committee announced its annual essay contest is now open for submissions.   The topic is 'Paying It Forward: When the Mentee Becomes the Mentor.'

The winning essay will be published in the ACS August Bulletin, and the winner will receive a $500 cash award at the 2016 Clinical Congress.  Submission deadline is  Monday, February 15, 2016, at 5:00 pm CST. No exceptions will be allowed."
