Seeking articles for the March - May 2016 edition of Australasian Plant Conservation
The theme for this issue will be a commemoration of the work of Roger Good, a founding member and long term supporter of the ANPC, and an active researcher on a range of issues related to alpine and upland habitats, including fire, swamps and restoration ecology. In addition, articles and reports relevant to plant conservation in general are welcome as always. Please click here for more information

Myrtle rust was found on the Tiwi Islands early last year and has since been identified on the NT mainland. It is a major threat to Australia’s flora and has been identified as a new and potentially serious threat to the Northern Territory’s biodiversity. This workshop will cover Myrtle rust recognition, reporting, risk assessment and management options.

11th Australasian Plant Conservation Conference (APCC11) 2016
APCC11 will be held in Melbourne from the 14th - 18th November 2016 at the National Herbarium at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria in collaboration with La Trobe University, commencing with an evening Welcome Reception on the 14th. The theme of the conference ‘New approaches to plant conservation challenges in the modern world’ aims to bring conservation scientists and practitioners together to discuss how best to approach the key threats to plant conservation in Australia. National Seed Science Forum 15-16 March 2016 - Registrations filling up 
The Forum Organising Committee is delighted with the interest in the upcoming Forum. The Committee advises that there are only 20 remaining ‘Full 2-day Registrations’ available and only 2 remaining spots for ‘One-day Registrations’ for the 16 March – please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
Entries to the the World of Seeds Photography Competition close in 5 weeks! Five prizes to be won. Forum participants are invited to submit up to 3 digital photographs which will be digitally displayed at the Forum and delegates will be voting for their favourite in each category: Landscapes; Microscopy; Up close and personal macro; Seeds and the environment; and Digitally manipulated/multimedia enhanced photos. National Standards for Ecological Restoration in Australia
The Society for Ecological Restoration Australasia (SERA) has released these draft Standards for public comment. The Standards have been designed to encourage all restoration and rehabilitation projects in Australia to reach their highest potential. SERA and 12 partner organisations, including the ANPC, collaborated and developed the national Standards over the last three years - carefully considering the needs of all stakeholders. Public comment closes on COB 15 February 2016. The final version will be accompanied by an online interpretation that will be illustrated by examples. Both are scheduled to be launched on March 15th 2016 at the National Seed Science Forum. Click here for more information and to download the Standards.


Call for Applications for Research Grants from the Australian Flora Foundation
The grants are for research into the biology and cultivation of the Australian Flora. The Foundation expects to support between two and four projects at $5000 - $15,000 each per year in 2017 with possible extension into 2018. Preliminary applications (2 A4 pages) will be accepted until 15th March 2016. Short listed applicants will be asked to submit a full application. Further details can be found here. AABR Event - Restoring Seal Rocks Rainforest - Friday 26 February 9.30-11.30am
Join AABR to look at the works undertaken by local volunteers and contractors including the Worimi traditional owners. Seal Rocks is in the Great Lakes Council area about 3 hours drive north of Sydney and has been undergoing a detailed program of restoration for the past several years. Great Lakes Council and NPWS have combined to undertake restoration within the coastal environs of the Seal Rocks township. The rainforests in this area are diverse and regionally significant. EcoArts Australis 2nd National Conference - Wollongong 14–16 February 2016
This conference brings together environmental and arts practitioners to explore the visual and performing arts in creative ways to foster environmental sustainability. The 2016 theme is: Building Sustainability with the Arts. Click here for more information.
