Aloha Paddlers,

As we begin our journey into the new year, Covewater is wishing you the best for 2016 with a lot of fun in the water on your stand up paddle board. If you have been in Northern California with us the last two months, you are no stranger to the rain, and with it the swells we have seen off the coast.

With El Niño in full force, it appears as though we will have a true winter season this year. Don't let that stop you from getting on the water! Come on down and check out our selection of cold water gear to keep you warm on those chilly mornings. We have a large selection of Manera wetsuits specificly design for paddlers and some new boards that perform great in these rough conditions...

Lets get you on the water!
Do the winter conditions have you dreaming of a tropical escape?

Is the cold and chill too much to handle?

Is transporting your board is a bit of a hassle?
We have a solution!
Come on down to Covewater and check out our line-up of Inflatable S.U.Ps
If you are looking to travel with a SUP, inflatable is the way to go!

Lightweight and durable, these boards will endure the less-than-optimal handling that you might see along your adventure. This means you won't have to spend your time worrying, and can focus your energy on that awesome itinerary.

Inflatables have come a long way in the last few years. With thicker walls, reinforced rails, and higher PSIs, these SUPs will get the job done both on and off the water.
Better yet, these boards come with everything* you need to get yourself floating:
  • Travel Bag/Back pack (3ft x 1.5ft)
  • Inflatable Board (dimensions and shapes varies)
  • Travel Pump
  • Stock Fins
  • 3 piece adjustable paddle
When not in use, the boards can be rolled up and stored in their travel bag along with the pump, and the paddle. All in all, the set comes in around to 25 to 27lbs dry.

Come on down to the shop or check our our website for pricing and lets make those tropical dreams a reality! Malama pono!
Lately you probably noticed some new shapes in stand up surfing. There have been lots of SUP brands releasing similar squarish shaped boards (or Tomo shaped) into their ranges over the past year or two. You might be thinking:

"What is this?"
"It looks ugly!"

That's usually the first reaction but if you look at it closer you might change your mind...
Daniel Thomson (Tomo) is a young surfboard designer from Australia who is at the forefront of modern surfboard design and construction.

He has developed and refined the MPH (Modern Planing Hull) to almost its full potential, resulting in a board that both looks and rides incredibly.

That's why every big brand like Naish, JP or Starboard for instance did their homework and approved the advantage.
Parallel lines allow the design to be ridden smaller and narrower than previously considered functional. This is achieved by maintaining ideal rider volume with balanced foam distribution.

The parallel outline reduces drag, increases planing lift yielding more speed via less water resistance.

This year Starboard has the Hyper Nut. A compact performance sup surf board.

We had a chance to try it out this past December in exclusivity in Maui and we have to say that it is impressive how much speed you can get on that board. This shape will suit the SUP surfer who wants to step his game in the wave. The Hyper Nut turns on a dime and projects effortlessly and easily in any direction.

We have the Hyper Nut at the shop and 2 in demo. Starboard really believes in it and has 7 different Hyper Nut from 6'9x23 to 8'6x31'5

Come by and check them out!

This year, Covewater is working together with the Santa Cruz Challenge to INSPIRE individuals to get excited about health, ENCOURAGE people to find healthier food choices, BUILD community and provide incentives for individuals to reach the next level of fitness. It’s a lifestyle, a consciousness and most importantly an ADVENTURE to explore your hometown.

It's that time of year again when we reach out to our most stalwart supporters asking for their vote in the annual "Best Of" polls!

We would truly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill out both the Good Times Best Of poll, as well as the new Santa Cruz Waves "Swelllies" poll!

Winning both truly is important to us!

Mahalo!
It's been a classic event for 3 decades now and this year is going to be huge!
Starboard took it over as a main sponsor and Covewater Paddle Surf would be part of this notorious local event where hundreds of paddlers from all over the globe will be taking advantage of one of Santa Cruz’s most fabled breaks.Competitors will surf Steamer Lane through several 4 man heats eventually leading up to the Finals Sunday afternoon.
The weekend will be intense for some of the competitors entering in both categories. There will be Sup surfing and also flat water open ocean race.

This will be a good occasion to watch some of the best paddlers in the world and to push your limit by entering in one of the many events in the category of your choice.
