Big vs. Small Data: The devil is in the details

In the past years we have been hearing about BIG data and the use of it, everybody is talking about it, but do we really know what BIG data means? If you search the web you will find dozens of definitions running around but most of them lead into something like this: “Big data usually includes data sets with sizes beyond the ability of commonly used software tools
to capture, curate, manage, and process data within a tolerable elapsed time.

As consumers we are ALL experts, we know a lot about brands and if we don’t we just ask our smart phones or our friends because we don´t want brands to tell us what to do but WE want to tell brands how we want it, so brands need to be very specific and smart about how they communicate with us, consumers are in control and brands need to become more relevant.
 
So as a Brand how do you understand us is we (consumers) are so different? Well the clue is in the small details and traces we all leave behind and we can collect form the market, we call it Small Data. But Small data and is not about the size of it of it but in how deep we get with it.
