NSW Request for information: One of our NSW LookUpStrata members is after information about window locks. In order to comply with amendments regarding the installation of screen lock or window safety devices in NSW we would like to know which window locks you have been using, what has been successful/cost effective and which you would recommend. Please email me your recommendations. I will collate the responses into an upcoming blog post. We thank you in advance for your input and remind all NSW body corporates that the deadline for complying with the requirements is 13th March, 2018

You may remember, we sponsored this fabulous 1969 HT GTS Monaro during the V8 Supercars in Sydney towards the end of last year.

The car has been cruising around the suburbs of Sydney boldly displaying our sticker and was recently spotted by a LookUpStrata member outside a popular
hamburger joint. If you are lucky enough to spot the Monaro, please send me a picture to be included in upcoming editions of the newsletter.

David Bannerman, Bannermans Lawyers
The centrepiece of the new strata development laws expected to commence on 1 July 2016 is provision for a sufficient majority of lot owners to have power to force the remaining minority to sell their lots. Living above the third-floor drastically reduces your chances of surviving cardiac arrest, study suggests

Sharon Kirkey, National Post (Canada)
Just as Canadian cities grow staggeringly vertical comes a new study suggesting sky-high living in high-rise buildings increases the chances of not surviving a cardiac arrest.

The study of nearly 8,000 adults shows the higher the floor, the lower the odds of surviving an “out-of-hospital” cardiac arrest. People living above the third floor were about half as likely to survive than those living closer to the ground.

Locked front doors, missing concierges and agonizingly slow elevator times are contributing to some of the more obvious delays.
