JACKSON LECTURE
The Department of History is pleased to present the James A. Jackson Memorial Lecture titled
“On Being Humanitarian Nations: White Settler Societies and the Politics of Refugee Resettlement” given by Dr. Laura Madokoro, History & Classical Studies, McGill University, on Friday, January 29, 3:00 pm, in the Concourse Lounge, University College, UM. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
Everyone is welcome at this event.

Digital Humanities Workshops
For those curious about how the Digital Humanities can support your research, teaching, and dissemination, DHSI & partners are holding DHSI@Congress, a series of 2.5-hour workshops (in conjunction with Congress 2016) for scholars, staff, and students who are interested in a hands-on introduction to DH tools, techniques and methods.

FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
University of Manitoba graduate students are eligible to apply for the
CD Howe Memorial Foundation Fellowships in Creative Writing and Oral Culture.
Value: $10,000
Applicants must be enrolled in a Masters or Doctoral degree program; have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours of study; and be conducting thesis research in Creative Writing or on the critical study of oral cultures.

POSITION AVAILABLE IN A CANADIAN UNIVERSITY
The Laurier Centre for Military, Strategic & Disarmament Studies, Wilfred Laurier University has a two-year limited term appointment (non-renewable) available for the Cleghorn Fellow in War and Society.
The successful applicant will (ideally) be within 2 years of having completed a PhD and have a specialization in Canadian military history and/or war and society.
Start date: July 1, 2016
