Dear members of EFTA,
The past year came to an end with a great loss – Luigi Onnis, Founding Member and Honorary President of EFTA, died on 24th December in Rome. With him, we have lost not only an important figure for our association but also a truly admired person. His kindness and his radiant smile will be severely missed. Having been active in the European Family Therapy Network that gave birth to EFTA, he followed enthusiastically his conviction that family therapy is due to gain an accurate place in the health policies of Europe. To honour his memory, we dedicate the first volume of the EFTA Book Series to Luigi Onnis with all our respect. Please give your attention to the obituary below and on our website.
As you may have heard, the conference of EFTA is moving to Athens. The call for abstracts just opened and we invite you to send in your proposals for workshops, symposia, posters or open-format contributions where you yourself decide how you wish to present your work. Please visit the conference website efta2016athens.gr! I would like to draw your attention also to the detail that during the conference – as usual - the new EFTA Board will be elected. Please consider this fact as an individual member, as member of the training institutes chamber or as a NFTO representative. Every member and member organization is called upon to participate actively in the elections!
The Board of EFTA wishes you a cheerful and fulfilling 2016 and we hope to see you all in Athens!

Luigi Onnis left us...
Dear Friends,
What a sad Christmas for all of us.
On 24th December in the afternoon Gigi died. He left us suddenly. Our sadness is infinite, inexpressible. Gigi leave us an emptiness immensely painful. We will miss enormously his kindness, his sweetness, his patience and his generosity. Rigourus and indefatigable worker, always available, always ready to listen with a positive and constructive attitude, with his discreet and welcoming presence. Always respectful with regard to history, deeply convinced about the strength of the systemic thinking, passionate by the complexity of context’s interdependences, and by the incessant and detailed search of family therapy recognition and of family therapist’s professionalism in Italy and Europe.
At the anniversary of EFTA in February 2015, in Leuven, these were the last sentences of his discourse: “Paraphrasing a Beatles’s song “All you need is Love”, I think we can say that today “All we need is a systemic culture” because it is the culture that allows in our globalized world to put in respectful and affective relations, all these identities and specificities that otherwise risk to disappear in the contemporaneous globalization. And I’m very trustful that EFTA in the future will perform this important task of diffusion of a systemic culture of interdependence and complexity”. Luigi Onnis, EFTA Honorary President.

Chers Amis et Collègues,
Chers Membres d’EFTA,
L’année dernière s’est achevée sur une grande perte. Luigi Onnis, membre fondateur et Président Honoraire de l’EFTA, est décédé le 24 décembre à Rome. Nous perdons avec lui non seulement une figure importante de notre association mais aussi une personne très admirée. Sa gentillesse et son sourire radieux vont cruellement nous manquer. Ayant été très actif dans le réseau des thérapeutes familiaux européens qui donnera naissance à l'EFTA, il a suivi avec enthousiasme sa conviction que la thérapie familiale devait occuper une place précise dans les politiques de santé en Europe. Afin d'honorer sa mémoire, nous dédions le premier volume de la série de livres de l'EFTA à Luigi Onnis avec notre plus grand respect. Lisez avec attention la nécrologie ci-dessous et également sur notre site web.
Comme vous avez dû en entendre parler, le congrès d’EFTA a été déplacé à Athènes.
L'appel à contributions vient d'être lancé. Nous vous invitons à envoyer vos propositions sous forme d’ateliers, de symposium, de posters ou de présentations «libres » en fonction de la manière dont vous voulez présenter votre travail. Merci de consulter le site web du congrès : efta2016athens.gr! Je voudrais attirer votre attention sur le fait que le congrès est aussi le moment où l’élection des membres du conseil d’administration d’EFTA aura lieu. Nous vous invitons à considérer cette possibilité que ce soit en tant que membre individuel, en tant que membre de la chambre des instituts de formation ou en tant que représentant NFTO. Chaque membre est appelé à participer activement aux élections!
