Students Submit Videos for Inaugural SLED SHORTIES Film Festival
The SLED SHORTIES Film Festival was created to give film and media students in Alameda County an opportunity to display their talents and creativity. The film festival will be held on February 4 and 5, at 7pm, at the San Leandro Performing Arts Center, 2250 Bancroft Avenue.
Films will be screened from students from throughout Alameda County. 45 entries were submitted into 5 categories: Public Service Announcement (PSA), Animation, Documentary, Narrative, and a Challenge. These entries represent students from JFK (Fremont), Oakland, Piedmont, Tennyson, and San Leandro high schools as well as entries from Camp Reel Stories in Oakland.
Everyone is invited to attend the FREE screening of all submitted films on Thursday, February 4th at 7pm. On Friday, February 5 at 7pm, winners will be presented at the First Annual Shortie Awards. Category winners will receive a trophy designed by a student from the San Leandro Academy of Multimedia (SLAM) and a cash prize.
Online tickets for the Shortie Award event are $10 for adults and $7 for students with id. Tickets sold at the door are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased at EventBrite. Stop by www.sledshorties.com for more information. We hope to see you there!
