What do you like to do for yourself? Set up my canvas and paints and lose myself for the day.

Who do you seek advice from? My girlfriends mostly and Dad when it comes to my veggie garden.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business? Do your homework- WELL. Don't think you're going to be a millionaire in five minutes. You don't just hang your shingle out and people come running. Work Hard and keep the attitude of Excellence Always!

What is your tip for a work/life balance? It's OK to say No. Don't sacrifice family time. People WILL wait. Your time is just as important as theirs.

APP REVIEW - Facebook Groups make it easy to connect with specific sets of people - like family, VIP customers or course attendees. Groups are dedicated spaces where you can share updates, photos or documents.

If you have created a Facebook group for your business (or you are admin of a group) the Facebook Group App allows you to follow all of your groups in the one place without scrolling through your Facebook profile.- all from your smartphone while you are out and about.

You can post updates, links and photos and create and follow discussions all from within the app.

You can view activity, search for new groups and manage settings. As an admin of your group its also great to be able to respond to questions and comments as soon as the notification comes through - your customers will appreciate the quick response.

The Groups App is available on Google Play and the Apps Store.

SMALL BIZ TIP - Codes of Practice set out industry standards of conduct and can relate to a single business or represent a whole industry.

You can decide to establish your own Code of Practice, or to adopt an industry specific Code of Practice (in some cases this is mandatory).

Mandatory codes provide a minimum standard of protection to the consumers. They are prescribed as regulations under fair trading laws and can be enforced.

Voluntary codes are a form of industry self-regulation. They can be sponsored by an industry association or can be in partnership with a government agency (membership of an industry association is often a condition of the code). Voluntary industry codes are usually flexible and can be altered quickly in response to changing industry/consumer needs.

These guidelines for fair dealing between you and your customers let your customers know what your business agrees to do when dealing with them.
