From leap days to love days, February is here already here and there is lot on offer. February half term is teeming with free activities for children and young people, so be sure to make the most of them. Free training, free activities and lots of lovely looking jobs. Enjoy!

Free Training
 
Are you a mum or do you have experience working with families?
Would you like to train for FREE to become a Community Parent volunteer? 
Can you commit a few hours each week to the project?

Community Parents volunteers are trained to act as Peer Supporters for first-time pregnant families. The volunteers are trained to Level 3 City & Guilds in “Work with Parents” then matched with families in early pregnancy. Trained parents then offer a listening ear and non-judgmental advice and support during pregnancy and early parenthood.

Happy Leap Year
Did you know?...

This year is a leap year, with 366 days instead of 365. But do you know many of us will work a day for free in 2016? (Oops!)...And that leap years don’t happen every four years?

The leap year’s extra day is vital because a complete orbit around the sun takes slightly longer than 365 days – 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds longer, to be exact.

Did you know the tradition of women proposing on leap day is thought to date back to 5th-century Ireland when St Bridget complained to St Patrick that women had to wait too long for suitors to propose?
