Dave and Sandy Miller established Back40 Design in their den overlooking the "back forty" in 2000. After five years in business, the couple chose to plant Back40's roots in Edmond because they knew it would be a great place to grow. In terms of business, they saw opportunity. In terms of family, the city was where they wanted to raise kids and grandkids. There was never any question - Edmond is where they wanted to be.

Before building websites, Dave Miller worked in a variety of creative careers - as a designer at Hasbro Toys, as an automotive designer, and as a nationally syndicated cartoonist with Tribune Media Services. In the 1990s, his comic strip feature called "Dave" ran in more than 160 newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, the San Francisco Examiner, and the Dallas Morning News.

Back40 is a designer-owned digital design firm specializing in branding, web development and online marketing. The company also owns and publishes Outlook Magazine, a direct-mail magazine distributed to 50,000 Edmond and North OKC homes monthly. The publication started in 2005 and just celebrated 10 years of publishing.

Beyond just doing business in Edmond, Back40 contributes its talents by providing design services to a multitude of entities and by publishing local interest stories every month. Back40 has developed websites for numerous nonprofits, as well as for the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce and the Edmond Economic Development Authority. Individually, many employees are involved in local organizations like Leadership Edmond and Edmond Young Professionals. This community involvement continues to strengthen the company's symbiotic relationship that started more than a decade ago, making Back40 Design an Edmond mainstay.

Back40 recently celebrated 15 years of business. In addition to this major milestone, the company has achieved growth through new partnerships with Cloudflare, Google, Premier Parks, and Funeral Directors Resources. During the same year, the company also earned Edmond Chamber's Small Business of the Year Award, 11 ADDY Awards, and Best of Show: Interactive Division for its web work with Water4 Foundation.

Looking to the future, Back40 wants to help clients increase their businesses through web, print and marketing. By putting clients first, the company has been able to grow right along with them. This year, Back40 has already seen the growth of its online marketing services like content creation, AdWords, and retargeting.

When people visit with Back40 about their business marketing, a website redesign, or a new business idea, the Back40 team brings their best to that project. Other companies may build and launch a website, but when given the opportunity, Back40 can and will transform your business.
