Workshops on Peri-Urban Water Management Arranged in India and Bangladesh

To encourage participatory peri-urban water management, a series of workshops have been arranged across two countries in South Asia: Kolkata, India and Khulna, Bangladesh. The workshops brought local people from different professional backgrounds along with water authorities to ensure better access to water resources across peri-urban areas. Four workshops, referred to as "Mango Tree Meetings" in the villages, were organised on 4th, 13th and 14th of December, 2015 as well as 2nd of January, 2016. The workshops provided a platform for local people to share problems and discuss solutions, as well as identifying various government departments responsible for providing water services at different levels.
