At Fast and Female we have two powerful mantras: Spread the Love and Dominate the World. This month is all about spreading the love! It’s our theme for February. We already have a whole month of 2016 under our belts and I know we’re all working towards our goals to be better, stronger, and healthier this year. As we pursue these goals, we know we can be even more successful (and have more fun) if we work together and support each other. That’s why the theme of this month is spread the love, which to us means: social inclusion!
Inclusion is a powerful concept. Everyone can probably remember a time when getting invited to be a part of a group or community has opened up a whole new world of opportunity, introduced you to new friends, and made a positive difference in your life.
I have a fond memory of venturing up my neighborhood street one day at the age of 5 to meet a couple of older girls playing in their yard with a soccer ball. The girls invited me to come play with them and then later invited me to follow them to soccer practice. Even though I was two years younger, that ended up being my introduction to playing soccer on a team which I carried on with until age 15.

Inclusion means we invite everyone to participate in our community by sharing their unique abilities and gifts. Inclusion means treasuring diversity and encouraging those that may be timid to join a welcoming environment. Inclusion means celebrating that we are stronger and better together!
This month we challenge you to be champion for inclusion! Be on the look out for opportunities to reach out to someone new and include them in the activities you enjoy. This could be inviting someone new to join your group/team or it could be reaching out to a friend you haven’t connected with in a while and inviting them to try something new. You never know what unique talents and perspectives you will discover by including new people in your life and by introducing people to new things!

Our US Ski Team Ambassadors have been putting down amazing results left and right! In the last few weeks Sophie Caldwell and Jessie Diggins each won their first World Cup events, Jessie nailed a third place finish, and the team of Sophie, Sadie Bjornsen, Liz Stephen, and Jessie skied to a historic second place in the 4x5k relay! We are so proud of them and excited to see what the rest of the season brings!
