Storage Management Initiative Gears up for 2016 Plugfests

On the heels of their successful events last year, the Storage Management Initiative (SMI) has announced the schedule of SMI-Lab plugfests for 2016 to facilitate face-to-face interoperability testing for SMI member companies. These collaborative events help ensure members that their own products operate reliably when deployed to customers as multivendor solutions.
“Microsoft supports SMI-S in Windows Server and System Center to promote interoperability with many storage devices deployed by our customers. The SMI-Lab plugfest provides multiple opportunities throughout the year to work directly with member companies developing SMI-S provider implementations. Plugfests are an important way for Microsoft and its partners to work together to deliver the best product integration,” said Hector Linares, SMI member and a Cloud and Enterprise Principal Program Manager for Microsoft. “One week at a plugfest face-to-face is a brilliant way to shorten development time and replace weeks of e-mail discussions and conference calls.”
The next plugfest will be hosted by Huawei, co-located in Santa Clara, Calif. and ChengDu, China, February 22-25. For all 2016 plugfest dates and locations, visit the SMI-Lab events schedule.

SNIA 4th Annual NVM Summit a Rousing Success
|
|
The recent SNIA Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) Summit delivered on the reality of the convergence of storage and memory, brought to life by the enormous capacity, memory-like speed, and non-volatility of persistent memory. The day's focus was on developing the needed ecosystem for this convergence. Fourteen sessions from industry leaders at ABR, Avalanche, Everspin, Coughlin Associates, Global Foundries, HGST, HP, Intel, Mellanox, Microsoft, Objective Analysis, Plexistor, PMC Sierra, Red Hat. SMART Modular, Supermicro, Trendfocus, and UC Santa Cruz gave insights into today's opportunities and an exciting future. Many thanks to Intel Corporation and the SNIA Solid State Storage Initiative for their underwriting of the day's activities, and a special nod to members AgigA Tech, Diablo Technologies, Netlist, and SMART Modular of the SNIA NVDIMM Special Interest Group for their demonstrations of NVDIMM solutions.

Speak at SNIA's Data Storage Innovation Conference (DSI) – Deadline February 5th

Taking place in San Mateo on June 13-15, DSI will provide insights into new technology areas such as software–defined storage, cloud, big data, cold storage, and persistent memory, along with many other aspects of data management and network–connected storage.

Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) Conformance Test Program Now Available
|
|
The SNIA Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) is an ISO/IEC standard that enables cloud solution vendors to meet the growing need for interoperability of data stored in the cloud. Conformance testing for the CDMI specification is now available through the CDMI Conformance Test Program (CTP). The CDMI CTP validates a cloud product’s conformance to the CDMI standard and offers assurance that the standard has been properly implemented and that data stored will be transportable to any other conformant implementation.
SNIA has collaborated with Tata Consultancy Services to provide comprehensive testing to ensure CDMI conformance. Learn how you can get started with CDMI testing today.

The New SNIA Storage Foundations Certification Exam is Available
|

SNIA is pleased to announce the worldwide availability of the new Storage Foundations Certification exam within the SNIA Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP)
The new certification exam will take its place alongside SNIA’s existing credentials in the SNCP and is now available at all Prometric testing centers. The Japanese language version will follow in early March.
