Welcome back!

We have been working very hard on our digital communication. We have a brand new website, we developed our social media channels to be in touch and even closer on a daily basis and now we have decided to launch our new newsletter.

We are aiming to be the leading source of information about  Women in Tech in Europe and would really like you to join us and drop us any suggestions that you have and information about your work and successes at info@ecwt.eu.

This year we are launching the 1st European Celebration of Women in Computing the 25-26 April in Brussels which we want to be the annual festive gathering for all female tech talents and for inspiring next generations for a STEM career in Europe. We are looking forward to meet you all in April for two memorable days in Brussels at ECWC2016.

Linda Liukas: Hello Ruby - out on the market to bring you happy and whimsical moments with coding

The year was 2011 when Linda Liukas, recently graduated from Aalto University won a Women in Tech Award handed out by Aalto University, the Finnish N-PoC of ECWT for co-founding in November 2010 Rails Girls, an open source non-profit model based programming and community to help girls to discover the joy of coding.

The year after ECWT decided to further promote Linda through including her in the women in tech workshop of the final conference of e-skills Week 2012 in Copenhagen. And the rest is history!

Rails Girls, has become a worldwide movement encouraging women to try app building and programming and go from online consumers to web creators. Since that first event in October 2010, Rails Girls has spread around the world, from Beijing to Paris and from Budapest to Lisabon, Kiev to Shanghai, from Okayama to Sao Paolo. Guides for local organisers are today available in a variety of languages, including Japanese and Russian.
Linda is today a global coding ambassadrise and since 2012 the Digital Champion for Finland and she has made success also in the US  as community manager of Codecademy.

As a true entrepreneur Linda has in 2014 made one of the biggest success stories on Kickstarter raising funding for releasing her book in the making.  Linda´s goal was to raise minimum 20k and already the first day - 23 January 2014 - she tweeted: What a day. 24 hours and $100k. And in the end: 9,258 backers pledged $380,747 to help bring Linda´s project to life.

And now at last Hello Ruby is on the market!

Hello Ruby: Adventures in Coding  is a 112 page fairytale into the wonderful world of technology, computers and coding. It comes with a set of activities to support the learning of computational thinking skills for 5-7 year old kids.

Once you hold it in your hands, you will for sure enjoy it from the start to the end continue inspired by the new mindset!
