TEAM VISIT TO TRICKLING SPRINGS CREAMERY
On Friday, Bonnie, Justin, Tom, Amber and Annabel had the pleasure of driving to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to visit Trickling Springs Creamery and one of their farm partners: Hamilton Heights Dairy Farm. Chris, from Trickling Springs and the rest of his team warmly welcomed us, and took us on a tour of the facility. All the milk processed by Trickling Springs comes from grass-fed dairy farmers. 70% are certified organic, and the other 30% are in the process of becoming that. We got to wear super sexy hair nets and shoe covers as we saw how the raw, natural milk is homogenized, pasteurized and then filled into containers before it heads out to us. From there, we made our way to Hamilton Heights where we met the owner, Cliff Hawbaker. He's a 6th generation farmer, and a role model and mentor to other farmers in the area. Cliff used to be a conventional dairy farmer, until on his 25th wedding anniversary he saw that there was another, better way to produce milk. Since transitioning to being 100% grass-fed, other farmers look to him to help them transition as well. Watch the video of Cliff and listen to his story by clicking here.  Trickling Springs has an open door policy, so you're welcome to stop by anytime and check it out. There's a neat farm store stocked with all their delicious yogurt, ice cream, butter, cheese and other artisanal goodies.  We're lucky and proud to be able to partner with them for some of the best, most sustainable dairy this region has to offer.

SWAP ITEMS OPTION
Did you know that you can swap out an item you don't like for a different item on the produce list? Don't like beets? No problem! Simply reply to this email, or email bonnie@4pfoods.com with what you would like swapped out. By the way, you probably don't like beets because you haven't tried making them this way yet. You might even change your mind.

MICHELE'S GRANOLA
This week in your bags you'll find Michele's Granola, made in small batches in Baltimore. As a self-taught baker, Michele spent countless hours blending and baking an array of natural and organic ingredients, until she discovered the perfect, crunchy bite. The bakery is powered by wind and solar power, and at least 40% of their waste is recycled. Another 40% are compostable materials, given to a local composting facility that churns out rich, fertile soil for Baltimore’s urban farming projects.  Be sure to dump some granola in your yogurt from Trickling Springs this week for a delicious snack.

That's all for now.  Please continue to share you wonderful recipes, stories, questions, and ideas with us.  We love hearing from you.

Thanks for all your support.

A Note from 4P Foods:

Don't forget!!  Cutoff times to skip a bag: Sunday at midnight for Wednesday deliveries, Monday at midnight for Thursday deliveries, and Tuesday at midnight for Friday deliveries.

If you have a produce share AND a protein/dairy share and need to skip a given week, be sure to skip ALL of them when logged into your account page.  Otherwise, the system is designed so you can skip one or the other in a given week.
If you ever get a bruised apple or "sad" greens or anything along those lines - TELL US! It happens in the world of produce, and we need that kind of feedback to tell our farmers if something is wrong, and get you a discount/credit if needed.  That's what we're here for!
Wanting to learn a little more about the best ways to prepare your Grassfed meat each week? Jesse from Wiffletree Farm suggests these two cookbooks for those learning their way around: The Grassfed Gourmet and Long Way on a Little: An Earth Lover's Companion for Enjoying Meat, Pinching Pennies and Living Deliciously.
Peas and love,
