Greetings Friends and Clients
Happy 2016! We have launched the new year on a very positive note. We always enjoy building new relationships and value the continued loyalty of those we have known over the years. 2015 was a strong and wonderful year thanks to you.
It was also a good year for California, and even more so for Nevada County real estate as sales regained momentum in 2015. As of November, California Association of Realtors ® Research & Economics County Market Update for Nevada County reported a 17% YTD increase in Sales ~ outperforming the State of California at 6%. The Median Home Price for Nevada County was up almost 12% compared to 6.8% for California.
Welcome new agents
To support you as our growth expands, we want to introduce three new agents who have joined us in the last few months. I am especially proud to announce that my daughter and life-long Nevada County resident Kristen Hensley is now part of our team. Along with Kristen we have also welcomed Jill Southard and Steve Hartshorn to the Recreation Realty/Nevada County Properties team.
As you know, we opened a new second office at the top of Broad Street in historic downtown Nevada City. We are also still at our familiar 18848 Hwy. 20 office at the entry to Scotts Flat Lake Recreational area.
Around our Community
John is proud to serve on the KVMR Board of Directors. In 2015, KVMR Community Radio, the Nevada Theater, and our community celebrated the opening of the new KVMR studio on Bridge Street. The new state-of-the-art performance studio includes space for pre-production to support development of more programming for national syndication and programming of KVMR’s second digital channel. The acoustically designed broadcast studios and production suites have improved the sound quality of KVMR broadcasts.
The Nevada Theatre gained roughly 1500 square feet of backstage space for flexible use as a dressing room or green room and set storage. This unique building project preserves the historical features of Nevada City and kept KVMR in downtown Nevada City, where it has grown and thrived for more than two decades.
In Baja, Mexico
With Nevada City Rotary, John coordinated a project in Baja to repair student dormitories in Los Barriles, Mexico during the Spring of 2015. John and a team Rotarians will return next month for another annual project in support of the local youth.
To those who just want to visit Baja for fun and relaxation, contact John about our wonderful casita on the Sea of Cortez in Baja Sur.
Come see us soon!
This winter is proving to be a wet one with lots of snow above us in the High Sierra. The rivers are raging and the lakes are refilling. It is a beautiful time of year to live and play in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills.
With heartfelt gratitude!
