Financial aid & awards
Reminders, tips and programming

FUNDING YOUR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION
The Fourth-year Awards & Medals Program is now open! Applications are required, and the deadline for submissions is Monday, March 21 at 4:00 p.m. Students must have completed at least 19.0 credits as of May 2016. Find out more and how to qualify.

OTHER TIPS
Besides scholarships and bursaries, some other tips to assist in the funding of your post-secondary education at OCAD University include a student Line of Credit (LOC) which is an option students can look in to. The difference between a LOC and OSAP is: monthly interest, repayment of principle amount after graduation, and a co-signer is usually required.

On-campus or off-campus employment is another great option to support your funding, but be mindful of maintaining a work/school/life balance. The key to being successful both academically and financially is to ensure you have a solid budget.

Budgeting is an important aspect in being able to spend and save effectively. Some great tools we offer include our Online Budget Calculator, the Do What You Love handbook, and
our CREATiveFund$ Financial Literacy Program.

Richard St. John (
AOCA, Industrial Design, 1969), was awarded a McLean Traveling Scholarship after graduating at the top of his class!

Loving Japanese design, he yearned to explore Japan and Asia, and bought an Air Canada one-way ticket. First stop was Tokyo and St. John set out to explore his two passions, design and photography.

Navigating by trains and hitchhiking, but in order to have more freedom to take in different sights, he bought a bike; strapped his camera bag on the front, backpack on the back. Peddling around for a year, thousands of miles through Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos, Burma and across India from Calcutta to Bombay, stopping thousands of times to explore, learn, and photograph the wonderful architecture, design, and people of Asia, that travel experience was “one of the best years of (his) life."

Travel also paved the way for his future success, as he “was pushed to practice skills that would make for a better designer and photographer." Those skills included becoming... read more about Richard St. John's adventures, success stories, and the Richard St. John Travel Scholarship in Alumni Relations "Giving News".   <
