A note from the Director

Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Leap Day!

  • Valentine’s Day is a day of love. The Library Staff has been busy with a project to express the love we all share for reading. Come in and see our creative book display!

  • February 15th is Presidents’ Day and an official holiday at the Library. We will be closed to celebrate but hope that doesn’t deter you from learning more about the nation’s past presidents and the candidates for the upcoming election. Check out one of these: Jimmy Carter’s “A Full Life”, Jon Meacham’s “Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush”, Donald Trump’s “Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again”, or Hilary Clinton’s “Hard Choices”.

  • 2016 is a Leap Year, and February 29th is this year’s Leap Day. Did you know Leap Days are inserted to keep our calendar year aligned with the tropical year, the period of one revolution of the Earth around the sun, but Leap Years are not necessarily every four years? Although Leap Years are removed three times in every 400 years to insure a better alignment, this year we have an extra day! Carpe diem! Make an extra trip to the Library or download an audiobook through our website, www.stowelibrary.org or at ListenUp! Vermont, http://www.listenupvermont.org.

Enjoy February!
