CQC Inspection - Sharing Good Practice - examples from ARC England members 
We know that every care provider strives for the Outstanding rating at CQC inspection, so we thought here at ARC we would ask some of our members who have received an 'Outstanding' in one or more of the KLOE's to share their stories and experience.

Also we understand that receiving a less than good rating can be a stressful time, remember we are here to support you to address any areas of concern with our innovative training solutions. Learning Disabilities Mortality Review (LeDeR) Programme 
The LeDeR Programme follows the Confidential Inquiry into premature deaths of people with Learning Disabilities (CIPOLD) and aims to make improvements to the lives of people with learning disabilities by identifying issues that may have contributed to a person's premature death, and working to ensure that these are not repeated .
Within the programme some deaths will be subject to a themed priority review. In 2016, these will be deaths of people from Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) communities and those of young people aged 18-24 years.
LeDeR are establishing two Review Panels to review these deaths, and would like to invite family members, social care professionals, advocates and people with learning disabilities to send in expressions of interest to join the review panels.

Commissioning will be key in changing learning disability care - High quality, sustainable support is vital for the 2,500 people with learning disabilities and autism in settings like assessment and treatment units, and for the 24,000 the NHS identifies as being at risk of inpatient admission. Help to stop Government plans to scrap Attendance Allowance - a petition
 In the Local Government Finance Settlement 2016/17 (published just before Christmas), it was suggested that there are plans to abolish all new claims for Attendance Allowance in favour of allocating the money over to local councils instead, to pay for support for older people.
Although a 'shake-up' of Attendance Allowance was expected, this severe revision could mean the end of access to this benefit for people who need it most.

'Dawn Bell Consultancy Services - a story of business success'
Dawn is a young woman with a learning disability who  runs her own business, with the help of the Community Housing and Support Network. Dawn is a consultant and trainer and also offers 'speaking up' support to other disabled people.
She set up her business in September 2014 with the aim of helping disabled people have better lives by sharing her story with people and organisations.

New model of support for people with learning disabilities reduces behaviours that  challenge by 60%.
Research conducted by service provider and ARC member Dimensions in association with the University of Kent’s Tizard Centre and the Challenging Behaviour Foundation, and funded by the NHS School for Social Care Research, shows a potential way forward for providers that support people with learning disabilities and autism. Mental Capacity Act / Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding Workshops

 Ann Craft Trust - Safeguarding Bulletin - this edition features a review of ACT's Safer Lives conference, at which ARC's very own Rod Landman delivered a session on Mate Crime (see page 3 for summary of Rod's session). ARC's Mate Crime workshops are delivered by Rod and focus on a range of case studies, using small group work to lead to an organisational action plan. We are currently taking expressions of interest for this workshop so please contact us to register your interest.

"We made contact with a local primary school, who have their own woodland, and kindly offered it to us to use for our sessions.
