Week of February 1,  2016 | KC Streetcar Update 

KC STREETCAR #803 ARRIVAL & TESTING
The 3rd KC Streetcar vehicle, #803, is set to arrive in Kansas City this week.  Check our twitter feed for the latest information.  

The KC Streetcar vehicles continue testing and operator training this week during the day and evenings. To date, there are 14 individuals going through streetcar operator orientation and training. KC Streetcar maintenance staff has also been hired and currently being trained.

KC STREETCAR AUTHORITY

The Kansas City Streetcar Authority announced new executive officers at its January meeting.  The board has a new chairman, new vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. In addition, the KC Streetcar Authority awarded the title of Chairman Emeritus to Tom Trabon, the creator and founding chair of the KC Streetcar Authority. 

Mike Hagedorn, President and CEO of UMB Bank, was elected chairman of the KC Streetcar Authority; he previously served as the interim chairman as well as the vice chairman of the board.  Susan Ford Robertson, Owner and CEO with the Robertson Law Group, was elected to be the vice chair of the board. Susan previously served as secretary. Jon Copaken, Principal with Copaken Brooks, was elected as treasurer and Teri Rogers, Owner and CEO of Hint, was elected as secretary. 
KC STREETCAR ART PARTNERSHIP
On Friday, January 29, the Kite Singleton Yard was transformed into an art gallery featuring the inspirational designs from students of the Kansas City Art Institute MICRO agency class.

Through this partnership, six designs were created and one was chosen as THE commemorative piece signifying the Grand Opening of the KC Streetcar.  Madison Crabtree, junior at the Kansas City Art Institute, was recognized at the event as the winner of the KC Streetcar poster competition. KC STREETCAR CONSTRUCTION
All work is weather dependent:
  • 3rd & Grand: Traffic signal work. 
  • Grand, btwn 3rd-5th: fiber duct and pothole work.
  • 7th & Main: Traffic signal work.
  • 8th & 9th Streets on Main: OCS pours and sidewalk work.
  • 14th & Main: Work at southbound platform. Work will affect driveway access on the west side.
  • NE corner 16th & NW corner of 10th: Sidewalk work. 
  • Job wide sidewalk pour backs, OCS poor backs, touch-up work continue.
  • Between Truman Rd and the River Market area, brick restoration work. 
  • Job wide on Main: streetlight tie-in work. 
About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
