Dearest Families,

AALC has been abuzz with performance art these past two weeks. Thursday, January 28, 2016, the middle school students held their drama performance for the student body, as a culmination of their drama elective. Their final performance was held on Friday evening, January 29, for our community. Our students will be "Puttin' on the Ritz," the annual school talent show. Students have been practicing during Friday afternoon enrichments and will share their hard work with us this Friday, February 5, 2016, at 6 pm. Come and enjoy the singing, dancing, and comedy. Come cheer on our talented community!

Have a wonderful, joyful week of learning and exploring!

Warm Regards,
Abby & Cynthia
REMINDER:
Please check the Lost and Found for any items your student may be missing.  It will be collected and donated on Friday!

Kids Club remains at AALC!  Please click the button below for a letter from Kids Club regarding their decision.  We are so thankful to have them here!

Clubs are the heart of our program; they are initiated by children, led by staff members and open to everyone. Clubs are an excellent opportunity for learning pro-social behaviors; they offer children the opportunity to learn important skills such as their role in a group, success outside of academics, personal responsibility and accountability to a group. Clubs happen during regular afternoon Kids Club time.

Current schedule of clubs:

Monday – Dessert Club
Tuesday – Video Game Club
Wednesday – Origami Club; Courtroom Drama Club
Thursday – Star Wars Club; Marathon Club
Friday – Hospital Club; Favorite Animal Club

We would love to have your child drop in and join us for a club they might be interested in!
For more information about registering for a drop-in, contact Rachel Tewari, AALC Kids Club Director: 734.761.7101,

Fitness February: From Ms. Perkovich

Early Primary- Students are working on the concept or personal space in the gym. A lot of students have a fantastic foundation of locomotor skills such as skipping, hopping, galloping, etc., however we will be continuing to move around the gym using various locomotor skills to strengthen their foundation that has been built from previous years. As the month goes on various tag games and movement games will be included in their classes.

Primary and Intermediate- Students will also be working on improving their locomotor skills by performing warm ups that incorporate locomotor movements. Throughout the month I will be introducing different grade level appropriate stationary exercise that will get your child's heart rate moving ( mountain climbers, jumping jacks, line jumps, etc. ). Like early primary I will be introducing different movement games that will increase their heart rates and will include fitness exercises.

Middle School-Students have been already working hard on pacing themselves during our warm up jog in the beginning of class. We will be continuing to add time to the jog as the semester continues. This month will be a month of fitness for your student, it is important to build a strengthening foundation for them as their bodies begin to change. We will be having fitness stations and fitness challenges throughout the month, please make sure your child dresses loosely on PE days so they can feel comfortable to participate.

*Lastly, I have taken on the role to assist coach with Girls on The Run and we are in need for more participation at AALC, mainly at the Middle School level. I can speak from four seasons of coaching that it is a phenomenal program and your daughter will not regret their choice if they sign up! If you have ANY questions regarding the program/commitment please do not hesitate to ask!!*
Rabbit, rabbit.
Hi peeps, hope everyone is stoked for a big week at AALC!  The time to jump in and volunteer is NOW!

Tuesday after school will be a short meeting for anyone interested in helping with the middle school party. Can't make Tuesday?  Email any ideas you have to PTSO (click the button below!)
or sign up for a volunteer shift:

Wednesday after school will be the first meeting for this year's Spring Fling and auction. We need all hands on deck for this event, which is our biggest blowout all year. We can't do it up without lots of help from the community, so please lend a hand with stuffing envelopes, soliciting donations, or helping plan.

Thursday after school is the February PTSO meeting. We're discussing spring plans and 2016-17 board positions so bring your enthusiasm and creativity!

Friday is the annual Talent Show. We still need volunteers for the pre show dinner:

I really hope to see everyone at any one or more of these activities. Our families are what make or break our community!  We AALC adults should come together to make this an exceptional spring for our wonderful kiddos, we owe it to them and to each other to work together and support this place that we all love.

-Kitty Heard, PTSO Co-President
AALC PTSO sends appreciation to everyone who participated in the drama production. Thank you all for the entertainment!!!  And thanks to all community members who came out for the performance last Friday.

E-mail PTSO!

Did you know that the SNAKE PLANT, Sansevieria, eliminates

benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene, and toluene from indoor air? Sansevieria are low maintenance plants that tolerate low light conditions and are very drought tolerant.
