NEWS

Developing a Citizen Need Service Profiler

This month, the first of three workshops will begin to explore whether it is possible to produce an app that a citizen can simply tick boxes to describe their circumstances which will then suggest appropriate local services that they are eligible for.

iNetwork is collaborating with the LGA, IEG4 and other officers from a cross-section of organisations in the North West to try to build a prototype app and at the same time provide suggestions for open standards to help citizens find services that can meet their needs.

More details about the project can be found on the iNetwork website. Contact Ian Singleton if you are interested in getting involved.

iNetwork Members on LGC Shortlist

The nominees for LGC Awards 2016 have been announced! iNetwork's IAPS programme strives to support innovation in digital delivery and service delivery models. It is therefore fantastic to see Wigan Council short-listed for Digital Council of the Year, and Cheshire East Council short-listed for the Service Delivery Model award.

Other shortlisted iNetwork members in other award categories include Tameside Council, Blackburn with Darwen Council, Blackpool Council, North Yorkshire County Council, and Warrington Borough Council. Well done and good luck to these organisations. The full list of shortlisted nominees can be found on the LGC website.

Opportunities

- training, funding, projects etc.

Extended Funding for Free Business Improvement Training

iNetwork members can benefit from funded business improvement training courses for free!

During the course, delegates will learn key skills enabling them to critically analyse their business’ performance and make lasting improvements to benefit residents and internal customers.

Access to free training is offered on a first-come-first-served basis. If your organisation has not taken advantage of the offer yet, hurry before the funding runs out. More details can be found on the iNetwork website, and expressions of interest can be made to Catherine O'Neill.

LGA Care and Health Improvement Programme Efficiency Project

Councils are now being invited to bid to participate in the LGA Care and health Improvement Programme Efficiency project.

As part of the Care and Health Improvement Programme (CHIP) 2016/17, the LGA are launching an efficiency project that aims to help develop innovative, efficient and sustainable approaches in care and health services.  The project, which will run to March 2017, will help councils develop their approaches to improving efficiency in care and health, creating experience and learning that the rest of the sector can draw on.

Full details can be found at on the LGA website. The deadline for bids is Friday 26 February 2016. For further information please contact Amanda Whittaker-Brown, LGA.

CAN YOU HELP?

Website Design & Usability

Nickki, Cheshire East Council would appreciate feedback on a couple of proposals for a new design for their council's website.  If you can spare 15 minutes to complete a couple of on-line surveys Nickki would be grateful – please be honest with your feedback!

Usability survey - to find out what you click on to use the site
Design survey - to find out what you think of the possible look of the website

Hybrid Mail & Reducing Mail Volumes

Alex from  Warrington Council is currently looking into hybrid mail solutions. Are you using hybrid mail in your organisation? If so, would you be willing to share what solution you are using and how you are using it? Also, Alex would be very interested to hear about activities that people have done to reduce mail volumes. If you think you can help, please contact Alex via Shelley
