Planting Seeds: Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence in Christian Education
FPDS opened 50 years ago with a mission that began in 1965 and continues today: believing that children are a heritage from the Lord, we strive to plant seeds of Christlikeness in the hearts of children.
A metaphor of this mission was displayed in 80 tiny pine cones, delivered to every single faculty and staff member individually by sixth grade students. The pine cones arrived with notes of blessings – cards written by these sixth graders sharing testimonies of what FPDS has meant to them and expressing gratitude to each teacher for his or her service to the Lord.
The idea was developed by Carolyn White, FPDS sixth grade math teacher for 43 years. She explained the metaphor in her faculty meeting devotional a few days before the pine cones were revealed. (Read full article...)
