GCSE English exam success celebrated
Students at King Harold Academy, Waltham Abbey, are celebrating a set of outstanding examination results in their English GCSE.
Forty-five students from the current Year 11 were entered early for their English exams last November and have exceeded all expectations with every student achieving an A*-C grade.
The figure for the Government’s national benchmark of 'expected progress' – three levels between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4 - was 100 per cent.
Head of School Kim Thackray said: “I am delighted and proud at what has been achieved by these students.
"The excellent results are testimony to their hard work and dedication, as well as to the absolutely fantastic teaching by the English staff at this school.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the students’ parents and carers for their relentless support whilst their children worked so hard for this exam.”
These outcomes follow the school’s best ever results for this year group last summer in GCSE Core Science, which all students sat at the end of Year 10, with 79 per cent of the students achieving A*-C grades in Science.
