The annual SeaWeb Seafood Summit brings together global representatives for in-depth discussions, presentations, and networking around the issue of sustainable seafood. FishChoice founder Richard Boot will be attending SeaWeb's Seafood Summit 2016 in Malta to foster dialogue and partnerships that will further FishChoice's goal of supporting both businesses and NGOs involved in the sustainable seafood movement. Richard Boot is also a finalist for the coveted Seafood Champion Award in the Leadership Category, with winners announced at a reception on the first evening. Established in 1974, Pacific Harvest Seafoods has been serving the greater San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas for over 30 years. With a wide variety of products sourced from over twenty countries, their seafood is a favorite amongst local restaurants, hotels, and markets. At Pacific Harvest, sustainable business practices go beyond their seafood, and include their facilities as well. Their new facility has been built with recycled and man-made products to reduce their environmental impact, and future plans include adding solar panels and a windmill to the facility.

New Seafood Watch® Ratings

Seafood Watch Updates
Seafood Watch® released new seafood recommendations on January 25th for farmed salmon from two farms in Norway - Kvarøy and Selsøyvik Farms. Both farms receive a "Good Alternative (yellow)" rating. About 60% of this salmon is imported into the U.S. by FishChoice Supplier Member Blue Circle Foods. This salmon is also being launched under the brand 'In the Blue' by Whole Foods.
