Semana Blanca
El hecho de que nuestro Colegio pertenezca a la Institución Internacional SEK, permite a nuestros alumnos disfrutar de intercambios y programas internacionales que otros centros educativos no pueden ofrecer.
En estos momentos 10 de nuestros alumnos acompañados del profesor Manuel Carrasco, especialista en deportes, están, junto a otros 30 alumnos de otros Colegios SEK, disfrutando del deporte blanco en Sierra At Lake Tahoe en California, Estados Unidos
.
El objetivo de este programa es claro: “Iniciarse en el deporte del esquí”, pero no es el único, hay otros objetivos que se consiguen:
- Practicar el inglés con los monitores estadounidenses.
- Conocer más de la cultura norteamericana.
- Socializar con los compañeros de los otros SEK y,
- Potenciar la autonomía, desenvolverse en un medio diferente lejos de casa.
Ya estamos preparando el INTERSEK CULTURAL a celebrarse en Quito (Ecuador) y el Green Week en San José (Costa Rica).
¡¡Aún están a tiempo para participar en estos dos programas!!

Children and Technology
Technology continues to bring us the latest and greatest, and children are entering this new world younger each time. That is why it is very important for parents to know the appropriate age, time and use, when it comes to their children and technology.
Last Wednesday, 20th in a fascinating School for Parents, the expert Mrs. Margarita Heinsen encouraged parents to think about the maturity level of each child, as well as the consequences of too much screen time, before buying cell phones, tablets and other gadgets for their children.

Visita al Instituto Duartiano
El pasado miércoles día 20 de enero, los cursos de 4º a 6º de básica tuvieron una visita al Instituto Duartiano con motivo del mes de la patria.
En esta interesante visita adquirieron nuevos conocimientos acerca de su patria, conocieron sobre la vida y obra de Juan Pablo Duarte, Padre de la Patria y Fundador de la República Dominicana, así como la vida y obra de los Trinitarios y de los Próceres, quienes se inspiraron en el ideal duartiano para la edificación moral del pueblo dominicano.

Museo Memorial de la Resistencia Dominicana
Los alumnos de 2º a 4º de Bachillerato visitaron, el pasado miércoles día 20 de enero, el Museo de la Resistencia Dominicana. Encargado de la recopilación, catalogación, preservación, investigación, y exposición correspondiente a las luchas de varias generaciones de dominicanos y dominicanas durante la dictadura de Rafael L. Trujillo, sus antecedentes y sus consecuencias.
Así mismo, durante el recorrido, se pueden apreciar varias exposiciones de los acontecimientos ocurridos desde el año 1916 hasta el año 1978 y visualizar claramente, desde un punto de vista cultural y económico, los grandes hechos históricos en la época del trujillismo.

Under 11 A Team Netball v Laxton
We always have a very close battle against Laxton with games going either way; yesterday’s match was no exception. We started a little sluggish and Laxton took a 2-0 lead but not for long, into our stride with more decisive switched on play we were winning 4-3 at half time.
Both team's defending and attacking skills were of a high standard and fitness levels were tested in the centre as the ball continually moved up and down the court.
Laxton fought hard and equalised but with some great moves in our attack we managed to edge again into the lead but even with our tremendous defence work they again evened the match at 5-5. A draw would have been a good result, but alas in the last few seconds of the game Laxton broke through and scored on the whistle winning 6-5. Still a tremendous game girls and our only defeat so far this season. Well done. Mrs Bray.

House Building Competition!
Last term, Felix had the idea to hold a "Building Competition"! The Junior Council voted and decided to organise one for last week. We held it on Friday morning, with only1 hour to build the tallest tower, a building for a Reception child to fit inside and then a "Wow" building.
Charlie from the Maintenance team helped us to judge! Children were given a very limited range of resources (newspaper, foil, masking tape and celotape), so the results were extremely impressive!
