Second 125th Anniversary Symposium:
Celebrating Founders
Some of Stanford’s brightest entrepreneurial alumni and leaders of businesses and nonprofit organizations came together in Memorial Auditorium on February 24, 2016, to share their journeys as founders.
With opening remarks by Stanford President John Hennessy, the symposium was moderated by alum and board member Ron Johnson and drew more than 1,200 attendees plus a streaming online audience. Panelists Reed Hastings, Netflix; Jessica Jackley, Kiva; Mike Krieger, Instagram; Tristan Walker, Walker & Company; and Kiah Williams, SIRUM, spoke about their experience and learning on turning goals and dreams into reality. Alumni Around the World Celebrate 125
Stanford alumni are celebrating the 125th anniversary locally in creative ways through “Birthday in a Box.” The Stanford Alumni Association and the Stanford 125 team provided alumni clubs with boxes of commemorative anniversary treats and party supplies. Alumni will mark the anniversary throughout the year with celebrations from Hong Kong to San Francisco. Share celebration photos with stanford-125@stanford.edu.

Stanford 125: A Visual Exploration
The new book Stanford 125: A Visual Exploration tells the story of Stanford in its 125th anniversary year, a remarkable moment in time. A series of candid images taken by noted street photographer Alex Webb were captured on campus over just ten days last fall. The photographs present Stanford today on a human scale--taking a look inside the university at the moments that animate its daily life.
The book will be available for $29.95 this June at the Stanford Bookstore and other retailers. Stanford departments can learn more about the book and pre-order at a discounted rate by contacting Olga Malinowska. Hardcover. 88 pages. Published by Cameron + Company.
