The board met on Tuesday, January 26th. Following is a brief update from the board.

 

 

The Sabbatical Plan Committee submitted the Sabbatical Plan Proposal to the church board. On the whole the board's response to this plan was positive. The board requested additional time to review the plan to ensure that all areas of ministry and responsibility are clearly defined prior to approval. The board wishes to express their thanks to the Sabbatical Planning Committee for their excellent work in bringing this proposed plan together. A detailed update regarding the sabbatical plan will be made available to our church family following the approval by the board. Please continue to pray for all involved as we continue to finalize details for Pastor Stuart's sabbatical beginning Monday May 2nd 2016 and ending Sunday August 28th 2016. 

 

 

Jay Pullen, Chair of Skyview’s Finance Committee, delivered a formal update to the board following the Finance Committee’s review of our current financial status. Despite a decrease in weekly giving in previous months the Finance update was cautiously hopeful.The Finance committee's only recommendation at this point in time is that Ministry Leaders remain conscientious of their expenditure as they plan for upcoming events. Please continue to pray for God’s provision for our thriving church and that we would be wise in utilizing all resources given to Skyview in a manner that glorifies God. We continue to thank God for the faithfulness of our congregation and for the many ways you continue to support the mission and ministry of our local church. 

 

 

The board wishes to express our gratitude to both the Worship and Children’s Ministry teams. We are grateful for their thoughtful and wise leadership as they minister to Skyview in these equally important ways. Both the Worship and Children’s Ministry teams noted areas of opportunity within their respective ministries. The Worship team is looking to add more musicians (base players in particular) and vocalists to their regular rotation. Our Children’s ministry team is looking to add one or more adults per week to minister to children in the Nursery, which also maintains a regular rotation. If you have the desire and ability to serve in any one of these areas, please prayerfully consider becoming a part of these vital and impacting ministries within our church. Please continue to lift our Worship and Children’s ministry leaders and teams up in prayer as they consistently and faithfully serve the Lord in meaningful ways.

 

Being on a worship team is more than just being creative and giving back of your gifts and time - it's about experiencing the glory of God, stirring the presence of God in your hearts and providing that opportunity for the congregation. We are in need of volunteers in a few areas:
 

- Media (knowledge of ppoint or other media program e.g. Media Shout)
- Sound
 

Expectations: you can expect approximately 2-3 weeks of consistent training, followed by being schedule once/month to serve

Skyview Information and Membership Class

If you are interested in learning more about who we are at Skyview or in becoming a member, please let us know!  We are looking at holding this class on either March 6th or 13^th at the home of Pastor Stuart following service.    
 

We continue to be in need of set-up help! 

We need two or three people willing to help on the fourth Sundays of each month with the unloading of our truck and set-up of chairs.  If you are not able to help monthly we are also looking for a team for those odd months with a fifth Sunday.  If you are able to join one of these teams, please contact the church office or speak to Pastor Stuart or Melaina directly.
