Exciting Slow Clay Guest Artist Workshops on the horizon, stay tuned!
View this email in your browser
Welcome to our 2016 program at Slow Clay Centre. Have you started the year with an inspiring, restorative activity? We had two groups of fabulous students for our January Weekend Intensives and then, in between, we started the year slowly by walking some mountains in New Zealand and being inspired by waterfalls, avalanches, mountain peaks and glaciers. Ignoring the sore feet, walking has some similarities with making with clay in the sense it can be a moving meditation and an intimate way to connect to country. We hope you have managed to find some inspiring and restorative time of your own this summer!

We have some exciting workshops lined up this year so stay tuned to these monthly newsletters to hear about them as they come up. We have had many enquiries about how to enrol in our weekly classes and it can be a bit competitive for which we sincerely apologise. The best way is to mark the date in your diary when you read it in our newsletters and then act quickly on the day we open, either online or by phone.

Term 2 runs from 11 April - 6 June (with one week off starting 18 April).
Our date for Term 2 enrolments will be Wednesday 16 March from 12pm onwards. We hope you can join us!

In the meantime we have a couple of courses that we only offer on an annual basis and can be booked right now so have a look below and hope to see you here soon!

Well-Glazed: Glaze Development Course

We makers have many choices when it comes to the visual outcome of our ceramics. Not only do we choose what clay to use, what temperature to fire at and what kind of atmosphere to fire our kiln in, we also have incredible scope for creating our own glazes from scratch or modifying existing recipes. It’s a bit like cooking really!

If you would like to create your own "gourmet glazes" rather than the bottled "off-the-shelf" variety, this is the course for you! With a small amount of information and guidance it is possible to get started and to understand some basic methods for creating and testing new glazes!

No prior experience with glazes is needed but a strong interest in ceramics is beneficial! Come along to this rare 4-session course taught by the wonderful Pilar Rojas.
Pilar is a graduate of the Harrow School of Art Ceramics course in the UK and is a very experienced ceramic artist. She also teaches our Porcelain course at Slow Clay.

4 session weekly course: $350
 Monday 15 Feb - 7 Mar
6.30-9pm
