Living and Learning in the Digital Age

Dear Colleague,
We’ve been running free twilights for teachers for almost two years now – and they’ve filled to capacity every time.
We’ve a real treat for those of you quick enough off the mark to reserve a place for the next one. Julian Sefton-Green, Principal Research Fellow at the Department of Media & Communication, LSE, will be presenting research he carried out with Sonia Livingstone into the ‘learning lives’ of 13-14 year olds in London, soon to be published as a book:
The Class: Living and Learning in the Digital Age
|
|
The presentation draws on a year-long ethnographic study of all the students in a Year 9 class, observing them both in school and at home. It offers a fascinating insight into the continuities and discontinuities between learning that takes place inside and outside the classroom. You will leave with a greater understanding of what learning looks like in the homes of a diverse range of students, as well as having a chance to reflect on how you might adapt your own practice to take into account the wider ‘learning lives’ of the students you teach.
To reserve your place, email admin@englishandmedia.co.uk, providing your name, school and contact number. The event is FREE. However, because of the limited places, we want to be sure that people who book do turn up, so we’ll be making a charge of £20 to anyone who cancels at short notice (within 48 hours of the event) or who books but doesn’t attend.
Best wishes,
Andrew McCallum
