We are a Christ-following community that brings ourselves and
others closer to God.
Hmmm. Did Jesus really mean this? I think another interesting question is why did this saying stick with the disciples? In fact, this quote is from Acts 20.35. This is long after the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. And it is PAUL that is quoting Jesus. Paul--who never met Jesus during his earthly life. Somehow, this saying of Jesus, which is not recorded in the Gospels, made such an impact on his disciples that it was passed on verbally and even impacted the life of the Apostle Paul. I think this saying encapsulates the life and attitude of Jesus. Read Matthew 20.28 and Luke 6.38. Yes, reading about the perspective of Jesus, I'm pretty sure he did mean this. The question is, how can we get in on it? Can you imagine how our lives would change and how the world around us would change if we took on this perspective? If giving is a pleasant experience that has a sacred nature that connects us with God (meaning of the word "blessed"--look it up), then let us GIVE rather than focusing on what we can receive!
A GREAT WAY TO SERVE JESUS AND CATALINA!  Jesus loves the little children, and so do we! YOU can show your love and help nurture children at Catalina by volunteering in the church nursery. Contact Kristin to sign up for a special hands-on training December 13 at noon in the nursery. You’ll learn all about the church nursery and the special way we care for babies and toddlers, and get a few slobbery kisses as a thank you. Kristin@catalinamethodist.org

You can set up a regular schedule of giving so your contributions support God's work here at Catalina even when you can't be here! Info on how to set this up is here.
