Research Faculty Survey a Success
The DFCM would like to thank all faculty members who completed the Faculty Survey 2015. We rely on the participation of our faculty and are appreciative of all those who took the time to submit a survey. We would additionally like to congratulate Drs. Ravinder Sohi, David Palmer, and Maria Ivankovic on each winning the Faculty Survey random draw of $100 gift certificates to Indigo for completing their surveys.
Recognition
Dr. Cynthia Whitehead has been appointed BMO Financial Group Chair in Health Professions Research at University Health Network.

Drs. Joyce Nyhof-Young and Peter Selby have received Certificates of Merit from the Canadian Association for Medical Education.

Dr. Aisha Lofters has received the Cancer Research award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

The Urban Family Health Team at St. Joseph's Health Centre has won the Ontario College of Family Physicians' Family Practice of the Year Award.

Thrombocytosis One-Page Primer
Thrombocytosis refers to a platelet count above the normal range of 150-450 x109/L. It is often asymptomatic and found incidentally, but can predispose a patient to thrombotic events like deep vein thromboses and pulmonary embolism.
