Greetings from your Vice President of Philanthropy

Why Philanthropy Phebruary?

I love Philanthropy Phebruary! As a volunteer and a teacher, I know that one act can impact a child’s life. Phebruary is phull of philanthropy events in Phoenix for Pi Phis! Champions Are Readers, Fraternity Day of Service, and Phoenix Panhellenic Association’s Waste Management Phoenix Open are just a few of the service opportunities we’ve got in store for you this year. Keep reading to see all the details below.

I have been fortunate to be involved in the Phoenix Alumnae Club the last 14 years – thanks to Donna Draper for recruiting me! I have served in a variety of roles from Alumnae Club President & Co-President, AZ Beta House Corporation, AZ Beta AAC, Foundation Ambassador, VP Philanthropy, and Phoenix Panhellenic Executive Board just to name a few. I look forward to my future roles in the club and what 2016 will bring!

Ring Ching,

Kim OBrien

Special Impact Grant

The Pi Beta Phi Foundation has awarded five $10,000 Special Impact Grants to nonprofit organizations all across the United States and our very own Kids Need to Read was one of the fortunate recipients! The Phoenix Alumnae Club has been supporting Kids Need to Read since last year and we are so happy we can work with them to bring literacy initiatives to the Phoenix area. Donations to the Literacy Fund make these awards possible, so thank you to everyone who is a Foundation donor and thank you to Kim OBrien for nominating Kids Need to Read for the grant!

Kids Need to Read's Mission: To create a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to underfunded schools, libraries and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children.

Literacy Program supported by the grant: The Page Coach - A mobile outreach program capable of delivering books and interactive literacy events.
