Wisconsinites checked out 3.5 million audiobooks and ebooks from Wisconsin’s Digital Library in 2015. Help us make this great service even better by filling out a survey from the Wisconsin Public Library Consortium. Your input will help guide us as we continue to grow and develop the collection of digital materials so it is most relevant and useful to Wisconsin library patrons.

The
survey takes an average of 10 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your time and feedback.
Libros en español
So, you say you've been learning Spanish with our
Mango Language resource and our Rosetta Stone laptops, and now you're looking for something new to tackle? You're in luck, because we've started a growing collection of adult and teen fiction books in Spanish. Look for them on our new books shelf.
Nancy:
Fans of 1,001 Nights should try both of these new teen titles:
A Thousand Nights by E K Johnston and The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh.

Also fun to read and explore near and far: Lonely Planet
Normandy & D-Day Beaches - history and beautiful countryside in France with travel and stay ideas galore. Do you have any veterans in your family tree? Very moving memorial for the heroes of WWII D-Day.

Nearer at hand,
Discovering Vintage Chicago by Amy Bizzarri is "a guide to the city's timeless shops, bars, delis & more": museums, diners, historic sites and more. How well do you know Chicago?
Karina:
Lydia told me to
Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White, and I'm afraid she has me completely pegged. Thinking heroines! Tormented heroes! Magic! Thinly-veiled Victorian England! Romance! Danger! Everything all wrapped up in one book! My life wasn't changed after reading this book, but my winter afternoon was a lot cozier.

Dark Shimmer by Donna Jo Napoli takes a well-known fairy tale (I won't spoil which one) and strips all the magic out...which is what made it entirely so magical for me. All of the fairy godmothers and evil stepmothers are explained away with historical, logical, and oh-so-cleverly woven plots. It was a joy to watch each fairy tale twist unfold.

Winter seems like a good time to rewatch some old favorites, so I'm considering the official confirmation of the Netflix Gilmore Girls reboot a good excuse to re-watch some Gilmore Girls. I've also got Sense and Sensibility (with the fantastic Alan Rickman) in my queue.
Erin:
DVDs:
The Martian & War Room
Books: For adults - Chronicles of The King series by Lynn Austin - I'm enjoying this
fictionalized biblical series on my Kindle, but it's available in the library system.
For children -
What Pet Should I Get? by Dr. Seuss - a book 50 years in the
making!
Dan:
Applied Minds: How Engineers Think by Guru Madhavan
Explains how engineers have solved problems using innovative measurements that create standardization and optimization.  Like the barcodes and scanners at Piggly Wiggly, these tools are great for commerce.

The Silo Effect: The Peril of Expertise and the Promise of Breaking Down Barriers by Gillian Tett
A reminder that specialized expertise often ends in bureaucratic and management crisis. Human invention is unmeasurable by definition because it happens outside the box.

Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life by William Finnegan
The memoir of a surfer who spent much of his life searching for the perfect wave and finds that no matter where he went the waves were all different.

Deep South by Paul Theroux
A popular travel writer stays close to home and reports that poverty is much the same no matter where you go, but it’s a lot easier traveling in the US.
